Girl Golf
Sharen needed a break from the auditors.
Carrie needed a break from the kids.
Sharen and I both thought we could do with some exercise.
So, we decided to take a walk around the wing park golf course.
It was very HOT, but we were determined to have some fun.
We all walked, but Carrie was the only one to carry her clubs. Honestly, I have never carried my clubs EVER. She also wins best dressed. Golf outfit to match her clubs. Nice!!
We were all hoping for at least one par each.
I got mine out of the way on the first hole. :)
Carrie got hers on hole #4. I got another one on the 8th hole and I told Sharen she could have it. She politely told me she can get her own thank you very much, and proceeded to birdie the ninth hole. Show off.
It was a fun, but very hot time. Sharen and I were excited that we got through the round without over heating and no aches and pains. Carrie was glad that we got done in time for her to get home and do "Insanity" with Dave. They are into their 5th week. Is she insane?

Sharen's fairway shot. We both decided that it's still our least favorite shot in the game. I am pretty sure that Jon gets some of his skills from his mother, just look at her form.

It's Grandma
I got to spend the weekend with my little man, Roger, while his parents took a quick trip to Springfield for a wedding.
I am sure glad I was there when he went down for his nap cause he didn't seemed surprised to see me when he woke up. I gently opened the door and announced "It's Grandma" and he let me pick him up out of his crib. He did look around to see if Mommy or Daddy were there, but he seemed ok with just me.
*Now on Sunday morning it was another story. He woke about 6:00 but tossed around till 6:45 so I opened the door and said "good Morning Roger - It's Grandma" he looked behind me and then threw himself down in the crib and crawled to the corner and started to cry. Yikes - I think he was wanting his daddy. I just sat down in the glider and talked to him for awhile and he came around.
The neighborhood block party was in full swing on Saturday afternoon so we took a walk to see all the excitement. His little head turned from one side to the other to watch all the kids and the water slides and bouncy houses. He seemed to groove to the music too. He didn't even mind the rain storm we got caught in.
Bryan warned me that he has taken to adult food and will feed himself - lots. I think he has his fathers appetite, because he ate and ate and ate.
He also has advanced to walking and climbing on everything. I was putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher and I looked down and he climbed up on the door and was throwing silverware out of the basket. I was sure glad that there weren't any knives in there.
He thinks Papa's drink is better than grandmas. *Mine is sitting there on the shelf.
He patiently waits for his soft ice cubes from Grandmas glass.
And he know what button to push for a self portrait.
I love
How he giggles when anybody sneezes - including people on TV
how he nods his head and says "Da" to mean yes.
How he will shake his head no when he doesn't want anymore food or ice or books or pretty much anything.
How he raises his arms to be picked up. I think he is trying to say up, but it just comes out a grunt.
He will slide things under the couch and under the carpet and looks at you to say "where did it go?" and he finds it for you.
He can endlessly be put ON the couch just to show you how he slides off feet first.
He buries his face in pillow and the boppie.
Best part He will cuddled with me before bedtime and we read so many books.
He is changing so fast, every time I see him he entertains me with new antics.

Thursday Golf
The guys have a standing date for golf on Thursdays.
For many years it has been Dup, Bill, Pete, and Prigge. Mike would take a day off work and fill in when one was not able to make it. Bob J. was also a sub.
Now all the guys are available to golf on most Thursday and so they all go. If you added it up that makes 6 so really what is one more. That's me!
Last Thursday it was supposed to be cooler like only 95 or so, so I joined the guys for some golf and brought my camera with me.
On the first tee they decide what game they are playing and for how much. This day we played skins. Mike won 4, Dup 1, Pete 2 and Bob J. 2 - I think. All I know is that me, Bill and Prigge donate the $5.
The first two carts up to the first tee go first. No big deal of who golfs with who. We will meet up after nine and switch playing partners.
The biggest discussion goes to what tees to golf from. Mike and Dup decide on the white tees. That leaves the older guys and me heading to the forward tees. I had the starter laughing when I asked "If men get to go to the forward red tees when they get old , where to old women go. And don't say home." hahaha all around, but seriously where do I go?
Bob J. and Dup were are partners for the first 9.
Pete rode alone and I didn't get the chance to golf with him this time.
Our (mine and Mike's) second nine we golfed with Bill and Prigge.
It was a pleasure to golf with the guys and if they ask again I will certainly say YES, but damn I missed Sharen.

Summer Thanksgiving
My family always got together for Thanksgiving. The family has gotten bigger and we (the sisters who hosted these events) just simply ran out of room to hold everybody. Bummer....
My grand plan was to host a summer thanksgiving picnic this year. The 4th fell on a Wednesday, so I was hoping that most family wouldn't have plans and come on over.
We had a Thanksgiving picnic - Turkey and all.
We put on a spread picnic style.
It was hot - Africa HOT!!! But that didn't stop us from playing bags. Erica and Stacy whooped on Craig and Joe.
The kids (big and small) gave the slide a work out. All the little kids with head bands straight from the freezer, compliments of Uncle Brian. I was exhausted just watching them playing. Aparently there is a video on facebook showing Jack sending Matt in the air. That went on for quite awhile.
Craig was the first in the parade of big kids. Sorry I did not get a pic of Dup.
Then Bill
Then Mike
It was very sad that Roger and Mary both were not feeling well and couldn't join us, but Roger sent his water play table with his Daddy for the twins to play with. They both had a really good time with their Grandma.
Mother was really excited about seeing everybody again (she stayed outside for almost an hour and stayed inside for several more) and I am glad that everybody stuck around in spite of the weather.
Seems I wasn't the only one missing my family. My favorite picture I took was the one I saw from my kitchen window while I was cleaning up the dishes.
