Logan's Day

We took advantage of Logan being off for spring break to have our "birthday day" with him.
We are planning on being gone for his birthday party and actual birthday.
The day started with lunch with Papa at Portillo's. Me, I am not a big fan of the place, but they both love the hamburgers so it was lunch before the "GI Joe movie".
They took in the first movie of the day and only has to share the ultra screen, 3d movie with one other family. They both thought it was an awesome adventure flick.

Next stop we head on over to Walmart and buy Logan an xbox game and an extra controller. What good is having friends over if they can't play along with you. (I guess gone are the days where you sat and cheer your buddies on while you watch them play and TOOK TURNS)

We thought about going to the castle (Village Squire) for dinner and I talked them into making homemade pizzas instead. So we bought supplies for that too.

When we take the grand kids for their birthday's most every time it is just Mike taking them to the movie. Well Logan thought it would be cool to watch a movie with Grandma, so we got Parental Guidance on demand. All Logan's idea!
We all thought it was funny in different ways. It is a great movie to watch with your grand kids. Logan pointed out a few times that Bette Midler could be playing me. Playing in the rain, dancing and singing in the kitchen and most definitely telling off the violin teacher.

Flaming Cheetos, taco Doritos, and birthday cake were the movie snacks. All before dinner - man I love being a grandma when the parents aren't around.

Logan spreading out his dough. Wearing his birthday crown.

Finished products
Guess who's pizza is who's?

Pizza one - Pepperoni, sausage and 2 kinds of cheese
Pizza two - Pepperoni, sausage, ham and 2 kinds of cheese
Pizza three - tofu crumble, mushrooms, broccoli, and WW string cheese

After dinner Mike ordered ANOTHER movie - The Hobbit, but poor Logan fell asleep before it was over.
Thanks for spending the day with us Logan.

Now & Forever

It's been awhile since Mike and I have gone to the theater.
We talk about it. I thought he would want to see The Phantom or the Opera. He loves the soundtrack.
Me, I was leaning toward The book of Mormon. (I still haven't ruled that one out yet.)

We decided on a matinee at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire.
Now & Forever The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

First I noticed all the parking places. Thought - won't be too crowded.
Second I see the buses. Changed my mind!
The theater is in the round and holds 882. I checked, just like I check for the exits when I enter. There are just some things your parents teach you, You never forget.

Doors are open but there are hundreds of OLD people sitting about in the lobby.
We find our seats and wait and wait and wait.
Turns out all those old people sitting in the lobby need help getting into the theater. They either have walkers or wheelchairs. Oh Vay!

20 minutes past the time the show was to start dim go the lights.
After that I didn't care who was with us The show was amazing.
There was no sets, no props, pretty much no costumes, just fantastic singer and dancers in pretty clothes.

My favorites were "I believe in my Heart" from "The Woman in White" and "Love Changes Everything" from "Aspects of Love".
Mike's favorite was "Gethsemane" from 'Jesus Christ Superstar".

Mike has the Broadway station programed into his radio. After that show I am thinking of doing the same.

Welcome Spring

It's true tomorrow is the first day of spring. The calendar says so.
No the weather is not the same as last year. Not even close.
It's cold and there is still snow on the ground.
But we know spring is coming, it does every year!!

And today I saw a sure sign it is right around the corner.
ROBINS!
Every year Sharen, Mom and I would play a game of who could spot the first robin. We would call each other when we spot our first robin for the spring.
I really didn't think about it until today.
I wanted to call Mom so bad today. She would of loved what I saw out our front window.
There were 17 (I counted) robins under our crab tree. Big fat ROBINS...
I am sure they were filling up on the dried crab apples laying under the tree seeing that the ground is still frozen and there are no grubs or worms to get at.

Hey Mom - I saw robins today!
