Luke has been playing in the band at school - the drums. His music teacher invited everyone to join other school bands to play the star spangled banner at the Chicago Dogs game. Luke and his friend, Matthew, thought it would be fun. Our Luke is always up to having fun.
Mary invited me and Mike along for a Mother’s Day celebration. We both have never been to the Chicago Dogs stadium in Rosemont, so we said yes right away. Of course, we get to see Luke walk out onto the field to play too.
Warmup |
Luke was pretty confident |
While they were warming up Roger took the tickets and directed us to our seats. They were down the third base side and the first thing I noticed - no netting. The whole section was band members and their families. Foul balls were very lively coming our way.
The band took the field.
I thought about taking video, but I saw that both Mary and Maryellen were both recording so I just stood and took it all in. They did really good.
There were kids everywhere. So many families have a fun night out at the old ball park. The airport was close and Luke, Mike and I played the “Where do you think they’re going” game. One very large plane starts circling back to the southwest and I guess Dallas, Mike says Phoenix and Luke shouts out Santa Fe.
What? I turn to Bryan and he’s smiling - they’re studying capitals in school.
Happy Mother’s Day to me |
It was fun time, till the cold front came thru and the stands emptied. Mike and I stayed around for another inning, but we didn’t stick around for the fireworks either. Chicago Dogs beat the SaltyDogs.
It was a dog eat dog game.
