Roger is 10

So it turns out that Grandkids grow up just as fast as theirs parents. 10 short years ago Bryan came running into the waiting room and announced "It's a Boy!" Roger Lester has arrived.

He now can put a complex lego set together in record time. He has a passion for all  video games and can watch them being played 24/7. He has a math mind and can get the answer in his head before I can with pen and paper. He has a quick wit and a smile (got his braces off) that lights up a room. He tells his Mom and Dad that he loves them and he enjoys playing with his brothers.

The only flaw that I can find is that - He's a Cub fan.

Mike had to buy him a Cubs jersey for his birthday.

My Two Cub Fans

His love for ice cream is epic so I made him a triple chocolate, creamy vanilla, chocolate chip cake with a cool whip icing.

He love ice cream

Before the rains came he took us outside and showed off his new electric scooter.

and away he goes

Thanks for let us enjoy your special day with you. I love You.

Happy 10th  Birthday sweet Roger.

GK Athletics Golf Outing

Genoa Kingston schools do NOT charge for kids to play sports. All the funds needed for kids to play at the schools are through fundraisers.

Now that Logan and Dylan have started playing golf seriously Mike thought it would be a great idea to get a foursome together, play golf with our grandsons, and support the football program where both boys had a memorable time playing - and of course, we had a great time watching them play. Both boys thought it would be fun too.

Mike sign us up. Dylan got an invite to go with 5 of his buddies for a long weekend to The Lake of the Ozarks. Well, he couldn't pass that up, so Logan brought his friend Will along. Logan and Will played sports together ever since they both started. Baseball - Basketball and of course Football, so we were well acquainted with him.

our foursome
This was the first time that both of the boys have ever played golf in a scramble format - shotgun start. We started out on Hole #4 and it didn't take long for them to catch on. We had 13 pars and 5 birdies. We did have 2 putts for eagle when Will put us on the green in 2 on 2 par 5's.
Will and Logan
If your ball was the one on the green closest to the hole, you were first up to finish the hole and putt out. Logan parred 2 par 3's without any help from his playing partners.
It got to a point where they would all drive and I didn't even go up to the tee box. There was no way I was going to outdrive any of them. We did manage to use 1 of my drives on a hole where the forward tees had a 100 yard advantage.
We had a true scramble day.
They all Drove - I stayed in the cart

It was a great day. The weather was perfect. The golf was good. I got to play golf where I didn't really have to hack along for my score. It was for a great cause. AND we got to play with our Grandson.

Herman Hermits

It started in 1965 when I first saw them on the Ed Sullivan show. That was one of the shows that my family would watch - Cause Dad said so. I fell in love with Peter Noone and his Herman Hermits. While everyone was screaming over the Beatles, I couldn't get enough of the HH.

I quickly joined the HH fan club and started a scrap book with all the articles I could find. When I could talk one of my sisters into take me down to Leonard's record store, I would grab the HH 45's and head over to the listening booth and sing along with Peter.

Mike took me to see them when they came to Elgin's Festival Park in 2015 on the 4th of July. My first time seeing them in person. After the show they had a meet and greet. I didn't get the chance to meet them, but I promised myself if they ever came close to us again I was going and taking the 55 year old scrap book and give it to him. It's old and fragile but I think he would get a kick out of it..

Pages and Pages of HH

I saw in the paper that the Arcade Theater in St. Charles was have the grand opening weekend and Peter Noone was headlining. I jumped online and got us 2 tickets.

I was so excited to hear him sing in person. He's 73 years old and his voice doesn't sound perfect, but man, he took me back to Jr. High School and listening to him on the record player. Most everybody there felt the same way I did and sang along to all the songs.

Still Love his Music

I took the old scrapbook with me. We got there early and I talked with a cute security guy and he told me he wasn't sure about the meet and greet. So mike went to our seats and I stalked the lobby and corralled the owner Ron Onesti and showed him the scrapbook. He was so busy and I felt bad stopping him, but I did it. He took our seat section and numbers and told me IF they were meeting fans He would make sure I got in. Peter had a plane to catch. 😢

Oh Well - That didn't work out. But I still have his music to listen too. His daughter has a show on Sirius 60's on 6 and he sometimes joins her.

I'm so glad he continues to have concerts and share his music with us. Can't you Hear my Heartbeat!

Luke's First Communion

Luke couldn't attend his second grade class's first communion. He was still recovering from his bladder surgery.

This Saturday, Mass at Mary Seat of Wisdom was Luke's celebration of his First Holy Communion. He was dressed up in his new suit more than ready.
