Golfing Again

Last summer with everything shut down, I was OK with not golfing. Mike had both knees replaced so he was not playing either.

I'm thinking, Maybe it's time for me to just hang up the clubs. I wasn't hitting as good as I liked - definitely not as long as I used too.

At the start of this summer Mike talked me into hitting some at the club. "We don't have to play every hole." I agreed to go. It was Monday, the course is closed, but employees can golf for free. We golfed 12 holes jumping around the course not waiting for anyone and certainly not holding anybody up. It was fun.

Maybe I still can play...

Then mike tells me 2 of his Thursday foursome wasn't coming. They had a tee time at one of my old favorite courses. I called Sharen and she wanted to golf too. Can I get thru 18 holes? We shall see...

Well I got thru 18 and had a really good time.
Maybe I can still play...

It's a beautiful Monday and Sharen talked me into hitting the club again.
We decided that we each need our own cart. Why not - anybody who complains has to take it up with the golf pro. I think we were safe there. After we teed off she took after her ball I found mine and we cruised the course in just under 2 hours. SO much fun. We've never done that before.
Maybe I can still play...

Mike signs us up to play a scramble with the Grandsons and support their old school football program.

Another great day on the links.
Maybe I can still play...

Then we get a phone call from Logan our Grandsons want to play golf with us.
It was a Sunday. It was very crowded. It took us 5 hours to play.
But damn we had a great, great time.

I finally got to share a alcohol drink with Dylan who turned 21 in 2020.
Cheers
I hung an old ripped glove (I have no idea why I had 6 gloves in my bag) on the tree.

So I got thru the 18. No back ache, no foot pain, no stiffness. YET!
I'm pretty sure it was all because of the people I was with but.

I'll be damned I can still play.

Playdate with the Grandsons

I had set up a plydate with Mary for the boys to come out and spend the day with us. We go into the city and load the car with the 3 boys, and everything Mary could think of we might need. Just as I opened the garage door and pulled into the garage the power to the neighborhood went out. Breakfast was by flashlight and head lamps.
This has happen before and we usually had the power back in a couple hours. Not this time. The neighbor down the street had a tree fall on our power lines, gonna be awhile.
we took a scooter ride down the street to check it out.
They don't wait for no one

We found where it came down.
One Whole Tree

As you can see the thunderstorm was way over, the sun was shining yet still the whole tree fell - right thru the fence and on top of the power line.

No power for us. I told the boys we were going to camp indoors. We had no air (temp was 87). We had no water and no potties. We are on a well that runs on a electric pump. You can only flush after #2.
We planned when we were going to open the frig or freezer doors.
Boys were on board with everything. We didn't miss the TV at all. They played with Mike's Legos. We fixed puzzles. they played baseball in the backyard. Luke and Owen ganged up on me playing UNO Attack.
We visited Lord's Park where I filled them in on all kinds of memories from my childhood playing in that same park.

They chose Taco bell for dinner. Mike grill hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch. I can't remember the last time I went to TB and I love Tacos so I was all in.
Cooling Off in the Air Conditioning

10 flour tacos, 6 corn tacos and 2 refills of drinks, we head over to Target to get some water to fill the toilets for flushing. The house is starting to smell like a urinal - it's time the toilets got cleaned.

So happy Mary included the skateboards. Luke and Owen spent the next 2 hours flying down the driveway and into the road sitting on the boards, racing each other, doing somersaults when they hit the ditch across the street. Taking time out only for me to pour water over their heads to cool down. Roger is too big to sit on his skateboard and spent his time racing up and down Shady trying new tricks on his electric scooter.

We got thru the day having loads of fun, navigating the frig and freezer, the heat and the toilets. getting thru the day talking and laughing. I was kinda sad when Bryan and Mary showed up at 8 to take them home.
We have another day planned before school starts for them. We just may watch movies all day and eat ice cream and chips.

**The power came back at 3:10 the next afternoon.

Bryan's Birthday

Sunflowers everywhere

Bryan, Mary and the boys came out to visit and celebrate Bryan turning 44.

I read about a new Sunflower Maze and thought it would be fun to check it out. It was so beautiful. The flowers weren't too high, but we had a great time following the maze.

walking with the Grandkids

It was interesting to see the flowers all leaning toward the sun. Turns out they don't actually follow the sun. They face to the East when fully grown and we just happen to be there mid morning.

We made it to the center where we stopped to take pictures.

With the Grandkids
Bryan and the boys HAD to stop and see if there was Pokemon around.
Searching for Pokemon

We all enjoyed it. It wasn't very big. It definitely was not crowded for a Saturday. It was close to the house. The boys were disappointed that the whole place wasn't open (August 27 for Pumpkins) so we talked about coming back to try the rides and slides.
They did have a couple things for the kids to climb on.
Pirate ship

Tractor
In the parking lot they had a couple games to play.
Owen was the master of this game. I think he beat everybody. What's Your Apple? or What's your Pumpkin?
So Much Fun

Well you can't come to our house without a trip to Grandma's Creek. After steaks and presents, away we go.
Luke got so excited he saw a frog. I managed to catch it and put it into his hands and he ran off to show Mom and Dad who were walking the woods with Owen.

Roger and I stayed back and walked up and down the creek. I put on my creek shoes, but I forgot to change my jeans. Didn't matter. When your Grandson asks you to go wading with him - that's what you do. Though I realize it's harder to keep your balance as you get older. And it you are wondering No I didn't fall.
Me and Roger
It was a Happy Day.
The kinda day that I would of done with Bryan years ago. Just doing it now with his boys.
Happy Birthday Bryan.
