Grand kids

I can't say enough about spending time with the Grand Kids.
Mike and I both love playing games with them.
Here we are at Christmas playing Speak Out. This game was so much fun. Highly recommended for older kids. I also partnered with Dylan and Kaylyn against Mary and Stacy for a game of Taboo. We were doomed  from the start - Stacy, a teacher and Mary, an editor. We didn't stand a chance.

Dylan was the one that drooled the most - must have been his braces.
Dylan even managed with his braces
Logan didn't want to play at the start, but saw how much fun we were having and joined in.

Stacy could guess what Kaylyn was saying almost immediately. We all shook our heads. I was thinking just like when she was a baby and the Mother was the only one who knew what they are talking about.
Kaylyn was all over it..
And when it comes to the younger kids.
Last Saturday, while Bryan and Mary went out to celebrate his new job, Mike and I played with the boys.
Well, Papa can't get away from Roger and his legos. They finished this mega thing. And yes, that is their kitchen table filled with all of Roger's finished projects.

Showing his Mother how it works
I spent my time in the family room with the other two. Building forts with the cushions, playing hide and seek, and some down time playing trains and watching TV.

Luke is addicted to Doc McStuffin. He told me I could be Grandma Doc, because I know how to sew and could fix his stuff animals.

Yeah - time with the Grand kids is priceless.

BackSplash

I think I watch too many of these home improvement shows.
Our house did not have a backsplash when we moved in here and I was ok with that. Now, not so much, I wanted a cool looking one like you see on these TV shows.

Only problem I didn't know what I wanted. Just NO white subway tile...
I have brought home samples of all kinds and none seemed to work. I have enough bath tile, floor tile and even wood planks to start on a room addition.
The problem is we have a blue/green counter top - not so easy to match. Most colors really clash. No, I am not ready to get new counter tops.
Then I saw the tin ceiling tile and thought finally this is it! They were too big, but they do make something similar for back splashes.
I knew that tin wouldn't clash with the counter or the white cabinets so I took my search to online.
Well, I found something. AND the pattern is called "quilted". Perfect!

It was wallpapering with sheet metal. Not easy.
Good thing I have a husband who does not care what I do around the house. Then again he usually doesn't help with my projects either. He stays out of my way and lets me do my thing.

FitBit

Last Christmas I got a Fitbit from Bryan and Mary.
I didn't ask for it - Bryan just got it for me.
My first thought was - Great! I know I have a weight problem and I don't exercise as much as I could, but do I really have to have something more (besides the scale) to tell me all about it.

Well, I could not have been more wrong. I put this thing on Dec. 26, 2016 and I have worn it everyday since.
Turns out I do need to know that it's time to get up and move, and that I did sleep well last night, and kudos to me, I walked 10,000 steps. I have adjusted it to achievable goals for me, and it works.

I ordered me some muted color bands on Amazon this summer. I am not a fan of the black "Hey, that fat lady has a fitbit on" band. My wrists are thick enough I don't need attention brought  to them.

I have changed my tune again.
Hey everybody, I DO wear a Fitbit!
So this Christmas I asked for different colored bands.

Bryan got me these and I am so excited. I can now match my band color to my clothes..

They also came with band locks so I don't have to worry about snagging it on something.

And for days when I want to get really brave. I can change my fitbit into a bracelet.
