Herman Hermits

It started in 1965 when I first saw them on the Ed Sullivan show. That was one of the shows that my family would watch - Cause Dad said so. I fell in love with Peter Noone and his Herman Hermits. While everyone was screaming over the Beatles, I couldn't get enough of the HH.

I quickly joined the HH fan club and started a scrap book with all the articles I could find. When I could talk one of my sisters into take me down to Leonard's record store, I would grab the HH 45's and head over to the listening booth and sing along with Peter.

Mike took me to see them when they came to Elgin's Festival Park in 2015 on the 4th of July. My first time seeing them in person. After the show they had a meet and greet. I didn't get the chance to meet them, but I promised myself if they ever came close to us again I was going and taking the 55 year old scrap book and give it to him. It's old and fragile but I think he would get a kick out of it..

Pages and Pages of HH

I saw in the paper that the Arcade Theater in St. Charles was have the grand opening weekend and Peter Noone was headlining. I jumped online and got us 2 tickets.

I was so excited to hear him sing in person. He's 73 years old and his voice doesn't sound perfect, but man, he took me back to Jr. High School and listening to him on the record player. Most everybody there felt the same way I did and sang along to all the songs.

Still Love his Music

I took the old scrapbook with me. We got there early and I talked with a cute security guy and he told me he wasn't sure about the meet and greet. So mike went to our seats and I stalked the lobby and corralled the owner Ron Onesti and showed him the scrapbook. He was so busy and I felt bad stopping him, but I did it. He took our seat section and numbers and told me IF they were meeting fans He would make sure I got in. Peter had a plane to catch. 😢

Oh Well - That didn't work out. But I still have his music to listen too. His daughter has a show on Sirius 60's on 6 and he sometimes joins her.

I'm so glad he continues to have concerts and share his music with us. Can't you Hear my Heartbeat!
